Today we went to the orphans to give presents, we didn't go to an orphanage, instead we went to this nice resort beach place and the kids met us there. There were SO many kids, too many kids. We didn't end up having enough presents, but we told the orphanage how many they could bring and they brouhgt way too many and their own kids and some children snuck back to take a 2nd gift. All in all though, it was really great. The kids were super cute and we sang songs with them. I let a bunch of girls play with my digital camera, they were really happy.
After we were allowed to go around the resort, and they had tons of turtles!!!! It was so awesome. They also had nurse sharks. We were all allowed a turn to pet the sharks and the turtles. The sharks felt rough, like a cats tongue... which was not what I expected, I thought they would feel like a dolphin, but maybe regular sharks do. Nurse sharks have cute teeth. And of course I was way excited about petting the HUGE sea turtle. We named him rodney, after our yoga instructor that sounds like a surfer dude, and therefore we associate with the turtle from finding nemo... I also jumped in the ocean.
After getting back to the ship, crouton and I went for drinks at the blind tiger, which has very nice beach chairs in the sun. I got an arm burn because I was still wearing my kid's crew t-shirt. Oh well. Then we went walking around on a mission and I found my friend Dennis from my first time in Roatan. I kept yelling "Hi Dennis!!" everytime I saw him, which was about 5 times, he was very busy! When we were walking back to the ship this other boy came up and said "Hi, I'm Dennis" and I laughed because I knew he was saying thta only because he heard me before all those times. I said no you're not! And then I got mad at him because he called Dennis a penguin. I don't know why he did... but I said be nice! Silly kids. I really want to take some out to lunch or something. I was joking that we should give them books, since they don't go to school... they are just forced to make money in the streets. The kids look really happy, but at the same time, they spend their day begging people to buy bracelets or just walking with people down the streets for a dollar, rather than going to school or just playing. But I would like to get some things for Dennis and maybe a few others.
